Need to create a heart beat between two BL460C Gen 9 blades in the same enclosure

Need a little assistance here. We have a C7000 Enclosure with VC Flex10 and 8GB FC module. I have two 1/2 height BL460C Gen9 blades running W2K12R2 standard. I am using two internal ports (one on each blade) for the network on each blade, I believe that still leaves another port I can use for the heartbeat. In VC I configured two ethernet networks that would be be used for the heart beat and I added it to the profile for each blade. Then I configured a nic on each blade for a 192.168.x.x address, but it does not seem to be an active port. I feel like I am on the right track but missing a a step or something. Each blade server has a HP FlexFabric 10GB 2 port 536FLB adapter. I called HP but they only sent me the VC cookbook, which was not helpful for what I was trying to do. These blades will be running a SQL cluster.

I am trying to put into use a C7000 with 4 BL870c i2 integrity blades.  Howerver, I cannot poweron the blades.  The firmware version on the OA is from 2011 and version 3.32

From the CLI, when I type "SHOW POWER"

Power Mode: Redundant
Dynamic Power: Disabled
Set Power Limit: Not Set

Power Capacity:               500 Watts DC
Power Available:                0 Watts DC
Power Allocated:              500 Watts DC
Present Power:                  0 Watts AC

From the GUI, I have a critical error on the power subsystem status,
Present Power is 0 Watts

In the power subsystem graphical menu,
All 6 power supplies don't appear on the graphic, as they would be absent.
And the text: "You do not have permission to view any of the power supplies"
appears instead of showing power supplies bay, model, and power.

The bladesystem is not under HPe support, so I need to try to solve this problem myself, with the help

of the community.  Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Francois

Finding latest firmware

Hi,

I would appreciate any help with the following. I am trying to get our C7000 firmware up to date. I have downloaded SPP 2016.04 and found one update to the OA itself. However we have a HP VC 8Gb 24-Port FC module (part number 466482-B21) that had version 3.01 installed and SPP 2016.04 had the same version however I found CP020368.scexe which had version 3.05.

Is that the latest version and if not, could somebody please point me to the right firmware. The reason is that we have other interconnects that we want to try and we are getting an incompatibility error. It's a FlexFabric 10Gb/24 port module and the part number is 571956-B21.

Blade iLO IP not changing to match EBIPA

Hello -

I've added two new blades to my C3000 chassis today, and they are not updating their iLO IP address to match the EBIPA settings.  Due to this, I am unable to access the iLO interface for the blade for either remote console or web management interface.

I've got OA version 4.5; the blade in question is a BL460c G7. I have 4 of these blades and so far 2 are acting similarly.

My iLO is at 192.168.22.14 with EBIPA rules set for 192.168.22.2-9 for the 8 bays.  The blade in question shows the current address is 10.0.21.194

What are my options for getting this IP updated?  I didn't see any iLO management options during bios POST.

Windows Cluster across 2 C7000 Chassis using Virtual Connect

What is the best practice to create a 2 node windows cluster where the blades resided in 2 different chassis using virtual connect. How does the heartbeat work?

Intermittent ping lost for 32sec with C7000 and FlexFabric

$

We have a C7000 chassis that has 2 HP VC FlexFabric 10Gb/24-Port Modules.

Each FlexFabric Module has 3 x 10GB uplinks (X5-X7) configured for LACP and used as SUS (see attachm.)

X1-X4 are used by 8GB SFPs

Firmware is 4.45

We run some blades with Linux & Windows 2012 and found that intermittent we have lost pings. If this issue comes up, we face a disconnect for always 32sec. Wenn ping comes back, all's normal for 1day or some days or more than a week. Since we have more than one blade with different O/S, we don't think it's O/S or driver dependant!?

Uplinks are ending at 3C switches. LACP timer on both (VC and SW) are set to 'short' 1sec

Patches are:

VC1/X5 & VC1/X6 -> SW1             VC1/X7 -> SW2

VC2/X5 & VC2/X6 -> SW2             VC2/X7 -> SW1

Dont worry about the port status in my capture. X5/X6 are currently disabled for test, however in normal stage, all show 'linked active', what indicates for us LACP is well configured and LAG works over logical switch

Wondering about ping lost for always 32sec, I'm asking if this indicates something 'well known' to you???

Many thanks in advance for any useful hint

HP FlexFab 20Gb 2port 650FLB Adapter Crashes Hyper-V Host when Live Migrating VM with vFC Adapte

Hello People.

We got a enviroment consisting of the following :

HP C7000 Enclosures equipped with 2 pair of HP VC FlexFabric 20/40 F8 Module running Firmware 4.45

HP BL460c G9 with 2x E5-2650 v3 @ 2.30GHz,  512GB of memory and a HP FlexFabric 20Gb 2-port 650FLB Adapter.

OS : Windows Server 2012 R2 w. Hyper-V Fully Patched OS, and HP SPP 2016.10.

So, our problem is that when assigning a VM with virtual fibre channel adapters, and enabling NPIV on the 650FLB Adapter it crashes the destination host when moving this one VM from one Hyper-V host in the Cluster, to another.

We run Microsoft MPIO and IBM SDDDSM 2.4.7.0 software towards our IBM SVC, and when running a enviroment without vFC adapters on VM's in the Cluster, the Cluster is rock solid.

So, anyone else experiencing this?

Virtual Connect + Pass Through module

Hello,

We have c7000 with VC Flex-10 enet module, it works fine. Now there is need to receive mirroring traffic on VM within enclosure. I've found out HP VC doesn't provide this function (here is a post somewere on this forum). Installing pass through module could work around this problem.

Could we use conjunction of this modules, is it possible? We need just one virtual NIC in one blade server managed by pass through module. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you

How to avoid login to enclosure from server ILO

Hi

I have a C7000 enclosure with some bl 465 G7 servers.

On the servers ILO 3 there is a BL c-class button that gives access to OA on the enclosure.

How can I restrict that access, so that servers ILO can't access OA ?

Hi all,

does anybody know where I can find an updated version of the compatibility matrix for blades?

Object Name: mmr_kc-0100204

I want to be sure wich servers are compatible on wich OA and VC.

The latest OA (4.60) is not included in this  document.

Thanks

BL460c g6 - Can't get network connectivity

Hi all, I'm brand new to this kind of server architecture so I apologize if this question is stupid.  I searched the forum for an answer and couldn't find one, but if anybody knows of a thread that might help, I'm happy to read up on that thread too.

Here's my problem.  I recently upgraded from some Proiant DL160 servers to a c7000 enclosure with a few BL460c g6's.  I found the DL160s to be extremely straightforward and was naiive to think that the blade system architecture would be similarly easy to get a grasp on.  I can tell it's powerful, I just haven't been able to maximize it yet due to my inexperience.

The BL460c's in the enclosure can't seem to achieve a network connection.  They appear in the Onboard Administrator and I can see temperature readings, and basic diagnostics, which is great.  But the servers themselves can't seem to connect to the network.  I can't seem get an ILO connection either, due to what I assume is the same problem.  The server appears to be booting up just fine whenever I connect to it using an I/O cable.  Everything seems normal, minus the absence of network connectivity.  I have Cisco Catalyst 3020 Blade Switches in interconnect bays 1 & 2. and I'm running Widows Server 2012 R2.

I guess my first question is this:  Is the onboard NIC sufficient to connect to the network?  Or do I need to get separate mezzanine cards in order to achieve network connectivity?

Thanks in advance for your expertise and patience.  -Nick

Hi
I'd like to IP change about OA, VC, ILO IP

Enclosure Model is C7000 G2

It will be using different subnet to chang ip address.

My plans are as follow:
1. iLO IP address change(OA GUI, EPIBA Settings)

2. VC IP address change( VC IP settings)

3. OA Standby IP address change(OA) -> ping test

4. OA Active IP address change using Insight Display LCD
(Enclosure Settings) -> ping test

I'd like to ask there's any impact after changing ip address?

thanks in advance
